I was head-hunted for this position in order to assist with the organizational restructure. The company had never employed an HR Manager before and survived happily for 20 years in this state. With the imminent unionization of the employees, it was decided that a specialist was required to fill this position. I am responsible for single-handedly formulating the entire set of policies and procedures for the Group from basics such as Recruitment, Disciplinary and Grievance procedures upward. Due to the Company being in a transition phase, I also was very hands-on in the administrative side from contracts to leave-administration and approval as well as the authorization of loans and salary advances. The Company also has an electronic login with the Department of Labour for each subsidiary employing over 50 employees and all EE submissions were completed and submitted successfully. The black-empowerment subsidiary was also rated during the last 6 months and through successful BBBEE strategy, its rating was able to move from a level 8 to a level 5.
