Security - Safety:Senior Executive Head of Risk Management From 2014-06 To 2017-01
Duties

Security

  • Ensure personal security of the Vodacom MD, Vodacom assignees, Vodacom expatriate staff, their families and Vodacom visitors to the DRC, as well as in country journey management of the MD and executives with minimal risk to her and her team.
  • Ensure that all safety processes and procedures with regards to all Vodacom staff were managed and kept up to date.
  • Ensure that the emergency Evacuation and Extraction procedures for expatriate and local staff is in place and personally handle the activation and implementation thereof
  • Managing the Security service provider (G4S) on all security matters
  • Ensure that all G4S security processes and procedures are in place and followed
  • Ensure that all Vodafone standards and procedures is adapted into Vodacom DRC Policies and Procedures.
  • Managing CCTV and access control systems to all Vodacom DRC premises and implementation and maintenance where needed.
  • Ensure that site security surveys are done on all expatriate residences, Vodacom buildings and Vodacom events and advice on security issues.
  • Liaise with G4S Senior Management with regards to the Vodacom Contract on security related matters.

Health Safety and Environment

  • Develop and maintaining the Health and Safety system, including the implementation, maintaining and training of SHE policies and procedures for Vodacom DRC which is in line with Vodafone.
  • Ensure that the SHE Country Plan for DRC are drawn up annually and signed off by the MD, tracked for each responsibility and the quarterly reporting on the progress of the SHE Plan.
  • Manage and coordinate training of employees including SHE Representatives, First Aiders, Fire Marshals, Evacuation Marshals and incident investigators.
  • Reporting of SHE incidents in a timely manner to EXCO and Vodacom Group (SA) and overseeing the load of all related documentation on the Global Vodafone program, and ensure that all weekly, monthly and annual reports are done.
  • Implementation of preventative measures and corrective actions in line with Group and Vodafone Standards.
  • Ensure that Risk Assessments are done annually per Department and/or buildings.
  • Ensure that EXCO and Senior Management do quarterly SHE visits and ensure that all visits are documented as per DRC Country Plan.
  • Oversee the Vetting process of all suppliers to ensure that they are compliant to and follow Vodafone SHE requirements/processes/procedures.
  • Ensure that SHE Committee meetings and Supplier forums are done quarterly.
  • Ensure that all Vodacom DRC activities are done in accordance with Group and Vodafone policies and procedures.
  • Managing SHE audits done on Vodacom DRC and ensure that the tracking and correcting of findings are done within action dates.
  • Manage Evacuation and Emergency exercises in all Vodacom DRC buildings quarterly and ensure the documentation and corrective actions thereof.
  • Manage, advice and provide training for Personal Protective Equipment for Vodacom DRC.
  • Investigation of all related SHE incidents.

 

 

Fleet Management

  • Manage Vodacom DRC Fleet to ensure cost effective purchasing, maintenance, availability and training of drivers for company vehicles.
  • Vodacom DRC fleet existed of 260 vehicles, 70 motorcycles and 5 trucks.
  • Mitigate and control the abuse of company vehicles by implemented control measures: Vehicle tracking, 9 Absolute Rules, buying vehicles fit for purpose, closing of all pick-up loading bins to prevent passenger transport on back of vehicle, provided hands-free kits to drivers and proper PPE for motorcycle riders.
  • Ensure that all vehicle incidents are reported, recorded, investigated and corrective actions are done.
  • Ensure that all drivers attend weekly driver champion meetings
  • Ensure vehicle safety topics are send weekly across the business. 
  • Budget Management for Security, SHE and Fleet to ensure proper cost saving and targets were reached.

Security - Safety:National Contract Manager Vodacom, DRC From 2007-01 To 2014-07
Duties

Responsible for Security Management of 1400 security officers and all security operations on the Vodacom Contract in the whole of Democratic Republic of the Congo, which included (but was not limited to):

 

  • Office security and personnel (20 office building).
  • Expatriate residence security (25 Expatriates).
  • Warehouse security (12 warehouses).
