PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To evaluate and manage the credit and associated risks within an allocated portfolio. To effectively integrate, manage and control the credit function by ensuring that quality of credit risks across your portfolio is maintained, thereby minimising the risk of loss through bad debts, while maximising profits. To interact with other areas of the Company in acting as a catalyst in driving the changed initiatives in ensuring compliance with agreed risk parameters as set out in the changed strategy. Implementation of the overall strategy in keeping with the Company defined appetite for risk and ensuring appropriate approval at all mandate levels. Building and managing relationships across all key stakeholders and actively participating in the various forums including CCC, Credcom and Collections to name a few. Manage the credit risks associated with various functions within the Company including direct decision making responsibilities within pre-defined mandate levels and active contribution to all credit granting functions within the Company, i.e. Treasury, E Bureau, Credit Card, MRF and staff lending to name a few. Prepare the “B Watchlist” to identify risk issues at an early stage where bad debts can be minimised. Ensure the achievement of the lending growth target within the parameters of conducting quality lending practices. Credit Manager Managing the applicable credit portfolio to ensure that any problems are identified at an early stage and the appropriate remedial action is determined and taken through escalation as appropriate. Conduct research of various industries, best practice methodologies and changes in markets thereby identifying risks to adjust lending parameters. Offer guidance to business in structuring/customizing credit facility options and parameters for successful application of credit approvals. Early detection, management and escalation of risk to mitigate and/or minimise potential losses. Quality of credit assessment measured as a percentage of non-performing loans and provisions raised. Managing and controlling all associated risks including covenant management, security requirement and updates as well as the provision of required information/schedules. STAKEHOLDER VALUE The optimization of resources whilst delivering service beyond the expectations of the stakeholders. Ongoing clear and concise verbal and written communication across all levels of the Company. Build, strengthen and leverage internal networks and relationships with senior Company stakeholders to optimize co-operation, in order to drive service excellence and manage risk. Break down barriers and develop influential relationships across team, functions and layers within the applicable segments. Manage relationships with all key stakeholders, particularly the business segment heads aligned to your segment, including all applicable Regulators, in conjunction with the Head of Credit. Participative engagement across various forums including CCC, Credcom, Collections and “B Watchlist” meetings, amongst other. Interact with other areas of the Company in acting as a catalyst in driving the changed initiatives to ensure compliance with agreed risk parameters. Credit approval turnaround time: - Ensure average approval turnaround time against target to ensure retention of clients RISK MANAGEMENT Timeously identifies and takes corrective action to minimise risk within unit Monitors risk and has the ability to pre-empt risk for the client, unit and the Company. Stays abreast with changes in the industry, legislation, etc. Alignment and adherence to the NCA and other applicable legislative requirements at all time. Credit Data Analysis for credit risk or lending: - Analyse credit data to estimate degree of risk in extending credit or lending money by accessing credit applications and Comply with governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements. Additional Requirements: The position or job function requires honesty in the handling of cash or finances due to the nature of the business. Credit Manager Formal Education or NQF Equivalent Relevant BCom Degree and/or CAIB qualification Experience gained within the Financial Services Sector At least 7 years Credit Management experience across Business and Commercial markets, including a level of understanding of the NCA.
